Dressember equips the public to fight for the dignity of all people, leading to the protection and freedom of millions. Since 2013, over 280,000 people have raised $18MM USD toward this fight, impacting tens of thousands of victims, survivors, and at-risk communities.

Our Approach

We know that trafficking rarely occurs as a lone injustice; it is an intersectional human rights issue preying on individuals with compounding vulnerabilities like race and gender. With this in mind, we partner with International Justice Mission (IJM) to resource programs that prioritize addressing human trafficking systemically.

With over 25 years of experience and global reach, IJM is an organization that partners with local governments, non-profit organizations, and corporations to combat human trafficking and violence against women and children around the world.

IJM has a proven track record of significantly reducing rates of human trafficking in regions where they have worked, and we rely on IJM’s deep expertise to identify and invest in the most effective programs that will achieve measurable impact.

Our Programming is Centered Around 4 Key Pillars

 
 

01: Advocacy

We educate the public with reliable data and mobilize them to demand change through campaigns and vital fundraising. When we collectively advocate, we put pressure on the current system to dismantle injustice.

02: Prevention

We support programs that focus on addressing the root causes of trafficking to protect people from becoming victims in the first place. We look holistically to address factors and systems that make certain groups more vulnerable to trafficking.

03: Intervention

We invest in programs that remove child victims from situations of trafficking, as well as providing support and exit pathways for trafficked adults. Our partners have local standing and are well respected and equipped to lead these initiatives through culturally sensitive and appropriate methods.

 

04: Survivor Empowerment

We fund initiatives that empower survivors’ sustained restoration by building up resources like holistic aftercare, job skills training and placement, therapy, education, basic needs support, and more.

+ HOW DOES DRESSEMBER ENSURE THE PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP THE MOST RECEIVE OUR RESOURCES?

Our programs and partnerships are designed to serve people experiencing poverty and other vulnerabilities to human trafficking and violence. IJM and implementing partners work with local justice systems to build safe communities where all people are protected from violence and trafficking, and we measure the impact to verify that people are protected.

+ HOW ARE PROGRAMS SELECTED FOR FUNDING?

IJM works with local experts (survivor and community leaders, government, NGOs, etc.) and utilizes learning from research to create a plan for how to achieve impact. The plan is updated routinely as we learn. All potential partnerships are evaluated using an objective selection criteria and are vetted through IJM's due diligence process and in alignment with IJM standards for implementing partnerships.
