We are a small team of passionate worker bees. We rely on a host of volunteers, interns, and independent contractors to get stuff done, and can tell you story after story of good people who have helped make this movement, well, move.
Blythe Hill - CEO/Founder
Iowa-born, Seattle-raised, and SoCal-transplanted, Blythe created Dressember as a style challenge in 2009. After aligning Dressember with anti human trafficking in 2013 and raising over $165,000 USD in its first year, she pursued the 501(c)3 certification that was granted within months (watch her TEDx talk here). She was a volunteer CEO from 2014 to 2016, when she was able to come on staff Part-Time. In August 2017, she came on Full-Time, and is still in shock over how much she can get done in 40 hours a week. She loves a good cheese, a good pun (clearly), and taking her dog Friday to the dog park.
Tracy Palermini - Controller
Tracy worked in the corporate world for the first two-thirds of her career and then (happily) moved to the nonprofit world, where she feels that her skills make an additional impact because she is helping organizations that are helping others. She has been with Dressember since the early days in 2014. She really likes spreadsheets and accounting, but when she's not sitting at her computer, she enjoys traveling, hiking, volunteering and dabbling in the creative world of stitching and quilting.
Marissa Peden - Director of Strategic Partnerships
Southern California raised, but twice removed to study and live abroad in Italy for 6 months and in London for 2 years, Marissa finally touched down close to home in Los Angeles. It was during Marissa’s undergraduate endeavors that she became aware of human trafficking and discovered an undeniable passion to advocate for global women’s rights. After graduating from Cal-State Long Beach, she pursued a Master’s degree in International Relations and Human Rights from Roehampton University, London where she dedicated her research to analyzing modern-day slavery in the Middle East. Now that she is settled back in Los Angeles, you can find Marissa discovering new music and sharing Spotify playlists, appreciating the LA foodie scene, practicing yoga, and baking sometimes healthy, sometimes not so healthy treats. #balance
Madeline MacDonald - Communications Manager
Madeline came on board the Dressember team in Fall of 2017. Born and raised in Washington State, Madeline holds a deep reverence for cozy coffee shops & Evergreen trees. After graduating with a Psychology degree in 2014, Madeline packed up her passion for writing and travel, strapped on an oversized backpack and set her sights on SE Asia - a trip that would ultimately spark her desire to travel to over 20 countries and live on 3 continents over the course of 3 years. She is now setting roots down in Los Angeles where she is enjoying the California sunshine and trying her hand at various yoga poses. Her work with Invisible Children & other global anti-trafficking orgs continue to inspire Madeline to engage in the fight to end human trafficking.
Jillian Rae Saldana - Admin/Operations
Jillian Rae Saldana is a native Southern Californian futurist, who believes in the importance of finding one’s voice, the power of curiosity, an individual's choices and setting the course for the world in which we live and love. She is a creative who dabbles in song, dinner parties and thoroughly enjoys the presence of her friends. Since the birth of her two nieces (Kenzie & Madyn), she believes she can be a catalyst of a cultural movement towards social good. After traveling around the world, there’s no place like home. You will always find her listening to a perfectly curated playlist while sipping iced coffee. She believes food is a love language, and the dinner table is sanctuary for great conversations and developing friendships.
Allyss Flores - Advocate Support
Allyss Flores is a friendly optimist from the great state of Texas. She stays calm under pressure and although she gets easily excited, she doesn’t get easily offended. She is married with two preschoolers and passionately pursues things that really matter to her, like, Jesus and coffee. Allyss has been a Dressember advocate since 2013, and then joined our editorial intern team in 2017. She is one of the most delightful people you’ll ever meet, and we’re thrilled to have her on our team offering Advocate Support and infectious laughter.
