Why Advocacy Matters to Dressember
Human trafficking is a $150 billion dollar industry, according to the International Labor Organization. Dismantling a thriving criminal industry won’t happen overnight, nor will it happen without public pressure and mobilized outrage. Advocating through education, legislative change, and consumer awareness are some ways we can disrupt the industry that has commodified too many lives. When we collectively demand change, we put pressure on the current system; eventually, our hope is that systems perpetuating injustice will break.
